 Integrated Plan

At Geneva CSR we apply best practices when it comes to agricultural project planning.

Each climate, land type, elevation, water source and quality, socioeconomic conditions and other factors have their affect on the choice and distribution of potential crops. This is part of our strive for value chain optimization.

This short video is for a planned project over an area of 10,000 donums in southern Jordan. Elevation is around 750m. Water sources are from deep aquifers. It will grow more than 10 different crops, in addition to a packaging facility and a fertilizer plant.

Zarqa River Forestry

Another planned project in advanced stages is the plantation of over 100,000 paulownia trees along the course of the Zarqa River in Jordan in the first stage.

The river faces risks of pollution from discharges of nearby factories and farms.

Planing these trees shall aid in purifying the flow of water as well stabilizes the soil. Within the first year, it is expected that these fast growing trees shall reach a hight of 3m at ideal conditions.

Recent Published Research Papers

Tha partners in Geneva Cetner, Dr. Fadel Elzubi and Eng. Eyas Shuaibi have published a recent paper in Jordan’s Journal for Agricultural Sciences under the title “Jordan’s Role as a Regional Food Hub”. The topic of food security in the Middle East region alongside the nexus of energy, water, agriculture and sustainability is one of the key themes in the center. Here’s the abstract for the paper below.

Abstract

A Regional Food Hub that covers at least Jordan, Iraq and Egypt is a necessity now more than any other time. This hub will allow the optimized flow of not only food products, but also various inputs, exchange of knowledge, coordination of policies, and joint response to emergencies. The hub will be a much-needed catalyst to further the already progressing regional cooperation, drive investments in larger and bigger projects and infrastructure, spur research and innovation in agricultural and food technologies, encourage private sectors involvement as a result of governments’ support and commitment, create jobs in multiple related venues, and enhance overall economic conditions as a result.

A choice based on synergy and shared values

The Middle East Strategy Group has been established in 2012 and since then has been instrumental in advising governments on critical decisions related to large projects, high-value transactions, strategies and policies, and economics related to energy and mining.

The synergy with Geneva SCR lies in the belief that there is a better future for the Middle East region, and the world, when decisions are based on sound economics and clear drivers.
